WORKSHOP - TISCH SCHOOL OF THE ARTS ASIA
As continual efforts to polish her skills, Nikko signed herself up for the Tisch School of the Arts Asia. She offers her talent as an actor who participates in Writer's Lab. The programme is an intensive workshop for graduate students as they cultivate and refine the craft of dramatic writing.
What happens during the weekly Tuesday evening sessions is that the students generate dramatic writing for the lab each week that then requires the student to collaborate on a staged reading of that work with the actors and directors. The presentation of work is critical for all dramatists, and although the craft here is theatrical, the development of character, dialogue, and action in dramatic space is relevant to film writers as well as playwrights. After each reading, a purposeful discussion of the work follows, conducted by the moderator and one guest member of the Department of Dramatic Writing faculty. The actors and directors for each piece as well as the class fully participate in the discussion.
This is the second week that Nikko is involved in the programme and enjoys being a part of the programme!
