The article spoke of Rediffusion's performance for the Singapore Arts Festival 2011, An excerpt is as followed, 'There are a number of trade secrets on how to tell a ghost story effectively - but the most important one is still the simplest. "You have to believe in ghosts and translate your fears," said Friz Abu Bakar.

Six Rediffusion DJs, including 27-year-old Friz, will be regaling visitors with 15-minute tales about World War II ghosts, pontianaks and the like in both English and Mandarin. Friz will be handling the stories in English together with 21-year-old Nikko Aw, who's also a theatre actress. The two host Morning Geminis on Rediffusion's free-to-air digital radio station Sync.

Started in 1949, the cable radio service went digital four years ago and now sports 15 channels and is even found on Facebook. But despite the changes, Rediffusion still maintained its identity with shows in Hokkien, Teochew and Cantonese up to thrice a week, not to mention radio dramas and storytelling sessions - including ghost stories.

The two young DJs have been getting tips from their fellow DJs, such as 10-year-veteran Gan Yeok Thiam, who'll be one of those telling the stories in Mandarin.

As for the relevance of storytelling to a generation weaned on a highly visual culture of TV, movies and the Internet, Aw has no doubt ghost stories have timeless appeal. "It will definitely appeal to the younger group who enjoy watching ghost movies. If we're able to pull it off, it'll be scary."
